Custom Sheds in North-Central Indiana

Storage, garden, and barn-style sheds sized to fit your yard.

A good shed does more than hold a mower. It clears the clutter out of your garage, gives your tools and lake gear a dry home, and adds real usable space to your property without the cost of an addition. At BnR Home Solutions, we build custom sheds for homeowners across Monticello and White County, and we build them the way we’d build one for our own backyard: square, solid, and made to match the house it stands beside.

We’re local, so we know what an Indiana winter and the wind off Lake Freeman and Lake Shafer can do to a structure that wasn’t put up right. That firsthand knowledge shapes every shed we build, from the foundation up to the ridge.

Custom-built to fit your yard and your stuff

Off-the-lot sheds come in a handful of sizes and hope one of them works for you. We start the other way around, with what you actually need to store and where it’s going to sit. Whether you want a compact garden shed tucked in a side yard or a roomy utility building for a tractor, a boat, and a workbench, we size it to fit.

You choose the style that suits your home and your taste:

  • Gable sheds — the classic peaked roof, great headroom, and a clean, timeless look that fits almost any house.
  • Barn (gambrel) sheds — that distinctive double-slope roof gives you extra loft space up top, ideal for seasonal storage.
  • Lean-to sheds — a single-slope roof that tucks neatly against a garage, fence line, or property edge where space is tight.

From there we build it out to work the way you live: single, double, or roll-up doors sized for whatever has to fit through them; windows for natural light; a ramp for wheeling mowers and equipment in and out; interior shelving and a loft to make use of every cubic foot. Tell us how you’ll use it and we’ll design around that.

Garden sheds, workshops, and she-sheds

Not every shed is for storage. Plenty of the ones we build become working spaces. A backyard workshop with windows, a proper door, and room for a bench turns a hobby into something you can actually do year-round. A she-shed or studio gives you a quiet spot that’s yours — a retreat a few steps from the back porch. We can rough in the framing and openings to make finishing the inside for electric or a work space straightforward down the road (electrical is handled by a licensed electrician).

A foundation that keeps it level for years

The part you never see is the part that decides how long your shed stays true. We’ll talk through the two foundations that make sense for most yards:

  • Gravel pad — a compacted, well-drained base that’s cost-effective and works well for most storage and garden sheds. Done right, it keeps the floor dry and the structure level.
  • Concrete slab — a poured pad that gives you the most stable, permanent base. It’s the right call for heavier equipment, workshop use, or anywhere you want a hard, sweepable floor.

Which one fits your project depends on the site, the soil, and how you plan to use the building. We’ll give you the honest trade-offs during your free on-site estimate rather than steering you toward the pricier option by default.

Made to match your home, not stand out from it

A custom shed should look like it belongs. That’s the difference between a building you’re proud of and a plastic box in the corner of the yard. We match your shed’s siding, trim, and roof to your house so the two read as one property. Same shingle color, same lap or board-and-batten profile, same clean corners and trim details we’d put on any BnR project. From the curb, it looks like it was always meant to be there.

Built on-site or delivered to your property

Depending on the size, the access to your yard, and the design, we’ll either build your shed right on your property or deliver a finished structure and set it in place. We’ll recommend the approach that makes the most sense for your site during the estimate.

One local note worth planning for: White County and the Town of Monticello have their own rules on permits, setbacks from property lines, and easements, and some lake and HOA communities add their own. Requirements vary by parcel, so we always advise checking with the White County and Monticello offices (or your HOA) before we break ground. We’re glad to point you in the right direction as part of the process.

BnR Home Solutions is fully insured, and our work is backed by our 2-year workmanship warranty. With over 25 years of construction experience, we’ve earned our reputation the old-fashioned way — by doing honest work and standing behind it.

We build sheds throughout Monticello, Brookston, Reynolds, Buffalo, Wolcott, Chalmers, Idaville, Burnettsville, Monon, Delphi, Lafayette, and West Lafayette, including the Lake Freeman and Lake Shafer communities.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a custom shed cost in Monticello?

It depends on the size, the style, the foundation, and the extras like windows, a loft, or a roll-up door. A simple garden shed costs far less than a large workshop on a concrete slab. Any number we mention before we’ve seen your yard is a ballpark only — every job gets a free on-site estimate.

Do I need a permit for a shed in White County?

Sometimes, depending on the shed’s size and where it sits on your lot. White County and the Town of Monticello set the rules on permits and setbacks, and lake or HOA communities may add their own. We always advise checking with the local offices before building, and we’re happy to help you understand what applies to your property.

Should I go with a gravel pad or a concrete slab?

Both are good — it comes down to how you’ll use the shed. A gravel pad is cost-effective and works well for most storage and garden sheds. A concrete slab is the stronger, permanent choice for workshops or heavy equipment. We’ll walk you through the trade-offs at your estimate.

Can you match the shed to my house?

Yes, and we recommend it. We match your siding profile, trim, and roof shingles to your home so the shed looks like part of the property, not an afterthought parked in the yard.

Do you build the shed on-site or deliver it?

Either, depending on the design, size, and access to your yard. We’ll recommend the best approach for your site when we come out to measure.

Can you add a loft, shelving, or a ramp?

Absolutely. Lofts, built-in shelving, work benches, and ramps are some of the most requested add-ons, and we build them in from the start so they’re sturdy and fit the space right.
